Amazon Fire HD 8 with Alexa support launched in US...

NEW DELHI: Amazon has introduced its Fire HD 8 tablet in the US. Available at $89.99 for a 16GB variant and at $119.99 for a 32GB version, the tablet can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com. The device features Alexa (Amazon's cloud-based voice service) support through the Fire OS 5.4 update and starts shipping from September 21.
The tablet features an 8-inch display with an 800x1280 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It is paired with a 1.5GB RAM and comes with 16GB/32GB internal storage expandable up to 200GB with a microSD card.
The tablet runs on the Android -based Fire OS 5, sports a 2MP rear camera with an LED flash, and a VGA front-facing camera. With a built-in microphone and integrated stereo speakers with Dolby Audio , the device offers 12 hours of battery life. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as connectivity options.
Earlier this year, Amazon launched the 64GB variant of the Fire HD 10 tablet. Priced at $289, the device is available on Amazon's US website.
Originally launched in September 2015, Fire HD 10 sports a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1280x800 pixel resolution. The tablet has a quad-core processor clocking 1.5GHz and has a 1GB RAM. It also offers microSD card support of up to 128GB.
Operating on the Fire OS 5, the device features a 5MP rear camera and an HD front-facing camera. It supports Wi-Fi along with a Dolby-powered stereo speaker. The company claims that the device can offer upto 8 hours of battery backup.
