Bangladesh's pace bowler, Al-Amin
Hossain, has been given the green
signal to resume his international
career after his action was found to
be well within the tolerance limit, as
prescribed by the International
Cricket Council (ICC).
Al-Amin was called for chucking on
the tour of West Indies and was
asked to rectify his action. His
bowling was suspected to be illegal
by the two on-field umpires, Marais
Erasmus and Richard Illingworth, the
third umpire, Steve Davis, and match
referee, Roshan Mahanama, during
the first Test at St.Vincent in
Kingstown.
Consequently, his analysis was done
at the Sri Ramachandra University in
Chennai, one of the newest
accredited testing venues of the ICC,
on October 20th. "During a
comprehensive analysis it was
revealed that the amount of elbow
extension in Al-Amin's bowling action
for all deliveries was within the 15-
degree level of tolerance permitted
under the ICC regulations," an ICC
media release stated.
"Al-Amin's action has found to be
legal following an independent test,
and that the player can, therefore,
continue to bowl in international
cricket," it further stated.
Having cleared the test, Al-Amin is
now eligible for selection to the
Bangladesh team, and can be a part
of the playing eleven for the third
Test in the ongoing series against
Zimbabwe.
