Hi guys, COAI (consists of most telecom operators) led by AVoId group (Airtel, Vodafone, Idea) is hell bent on making sure that Reliance Jio free calls to be banned or stopped. They want that no operator should be able to provide free calling in future too. They are petitioning TRAI to increase the interconnect charges which is 14paise/connection and which Jio is absorbing. They want it increased, so that Jio cannot handle the burden of these charges and stop providing free calls.

Guys, aren't you enraged that these people have looted us for so many years and now don't want new player to provide cheaper services. What do you think?

The free calls offered by Jio is just a trap. They'll not provide it for life. Even though they say it, they still say they have authority to change the plan without prior notice. Jio wants other operators to do this, so that Jio will be the good guy and others will look bad. TRAI will not change interconnect charge. They may reduce it but not increase. Either Jio will recall the plan or others will force them to do.

Moreover, as complained by other operators, number of calls from jio will be very less compared to the giants in market.

Reason being, you either need jiofi or 4g phone or volte phone. It'll take months and years to make everyone buy a volte phone. Until then, it'll be free.

Jio's unlimited calling plans are combo plans(Voice+data+SMS). Their pure voice only plans are not free. So they can anyway tell that the cost of Voice is included in that plan to counter AVOID group arguments that operator cannot charge customer less than interconnect charge which is 14p per minute  ;)

So Jio cannot be forced to change unless they don't want to do so.
So be assured that if you choose combo plans then voice will be unlimited as promised by Mr Ambani  :tup

Sir, you are wrong. Ambani said during the Reliance shareholders meet they want to see an India where no one will ever have to pay for voice calls again. Obviously they won't go back on their word here. It will be free for lifetime unless other operators don't mind their ways and TRAI goes against them.

Also, Jio plans are in a way that it includes charges incurred for some fixed number of calls. But they can give data so cheap that we feel it is free.
Also, if Jio is forced to charge for calls due to TRAI order, then they will reduce data charges so that it will be balanced. Other operators are gonna suffer anyway. :lol

There's a lot to see and come... Let's wait and watch... If ISPs fight, it'll benefit us... I trust Mukesh. Because I used his Reliance CDMA before it went into incapable hands of Anil. Reliance used to be number 1. They changed the Telecom industry in 2003 if I'm right. They're doing the same magic again. Let's see what happens in 2017.
