Bharti Airtel, India's largest telecommunications service provider on Thursday said that over 9000 of its network sites across the country have been upgraded and over 30,000 have been optimized, as a result of its 'Open Network' initiative.

The initiatives are part of its 'Project Leap' program under which it is investing Rs. 60,000 crores to build a future ready network.

Based on the feedback received through the open network initiative, Airtel engaged with customers to improve and optimize the network for them and their surrounding areas. Thousands of leads for installation of new network sites were also generated, the company said. The task of putting up new towers is also underway.

The company in a statement said that a fresh 360 degree advertising campaign with a media-mix of TV, print, outdoor and digital is being rolled out to support the next leg of the open network initiative.

The campaign is designed by Taproot-Dentsu and is based on the feedback gathered through the initiative and encourages customers to participate and take charge of network related issues.

Airtel also said that the Open Network portal will have a new section - "Network Stories" which will detail the actual on-ground changes that have happened post the open network campaign launch where Airtel has delivered an improved network experience.
