Is it possible to get cheaper postpaid plans? I need airtel postpaid plan in Rs.250 range.

Only if you are in J&K AFAIK. However there is a Rs 399 plan for Karnataka.

Contact CC and tell your requirements and budget. They may offer you some cheap plans.
When I was converting my Airtel postpaid to prepaid, the cc called me and gave many offers and plans (so that I don't convert it to prepaid), some of them were less than Rs. 300 per month.

I am happy with prepaid but sometimes I use less than 100MB in a day and sometimes 2-3GB. I will contact the cc. Rs.399 with GST is costly for me.
