Bharti Airtel is in discussions with smartphone contract manufacturers in India to develop low-cost 4G devices which could be sold either under the telco's own brand or bundled with the carrier's connections, people familiar with the matter said.The development marks a turnaround in strategy for the telco which has so far kept away from handset subsidy and appears to be a response to the Reliance Jio-Google partnership for 4G devices.
