Bharti Airtel added a maximum number of 2.33 million subscribers in October, followed by Vodafone India (201.90 million) and Idea Cellular (180.25 million), industry group Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) in a statement said Tuesday.
The GSM mobile subscribers increased to 5.55 million in October with a total user-base reaching 791.62 million users in the country.
Sunil Mittal-driven Bharti Airtel ’s market share surged to 33.13% in the country, according to COAI.
Andhra Pradesh circle added a maximum of .77 million customers while UP East continues to be the largest telecom circle with 72.46 million subscribers.
“It is heartening to see more cities mounting a sizeable mobile customer base, thereby inspiring us to develop mobile infrastructure in these regions,” Rajan S Mathews, Director General, COAI said.
Mathews said that the group hopes to keep up growth momentum so that telcos could move rapidly closer to the attainment of government’s vision of fully connected Digital India.
