Acer is kicking off IFA 2016 with a new Windows notebook that is probably thinner than your smartphone. Acer Swift 7, the first notebook based on Intel’s seventh generation Core processor is just 9.98mm thick, making it thinner the HP Spectre notebook.
Acer Swift 7’s scant 9.98mm profile is made possible by the latest Intel 7th gen processor. The new processor with its 14mm fabrication process allows for thinner and 4K ready notebooks. The Acer Swift 7 comes with Intel Core i5 processor, which should be quite powerful for most basic needs and offers tweo USB-C 3.1 ports and a headphone jack. Acer is promising up to 9 hours of battery life with Swift 7.
Acer Swift 7 comes with a 13.3-inch Full HD IPS display and aluminium unibody chassis. The laptop features a fanless design thanks to the Kaby lake chipset and weighs just 1.1 Kg. Acer Swift 7 offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Since Acer Swift 7 is considerably thin, the keyboard is likely to be shallower than the existing offerings in the lapop space.
Acer Swift 7 is not a convertible or a 2-in-1, its a traditional notebook with extremely thin aluminium chassis. Acer Swift 7 is not just the first notebook to feature 7th Intel processor, it is also the first to use fanless design with passive cooling mechanism.
Acer Swift 7, priced at 6,999 Yuan, will launch in China in September. The world’s thinnest notebook will then reach Europe and US markets. Acer Swift 7 with new Intel processors put style and form factor ahead of practical design.
