Acer has taken the wraps off its new flagship smartphone, the Acer Liquid S2. The Liquid S2 is the world’s first smartphone to use 4K video shooting feature — (the same technology is rumored to be equipped in Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 and Sony’s Xperia Z1).
As you would expect, the Acer’s Liquid S1 successor is beefier and bigger in size, featuring a huge 6-inch IPS-LCD display with full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution which runs 368 pixels per inch. The Qualcomm-made Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, kicking along at 2.2 GHz, is running the show. Android version 4.2.2 of Jelly Bean is running atop a 3300 mAh battery and 2GB of RAM inside. There’s a 13MP auto-focus back shooter (which can shoot videos in Ultra High Definition or 4K resolution, of course) paired with a front webcam which features an ultra-wide 88-degree 24 mm BSI sensor of 2 MP resolution and 1080p video recording. There’s also panorama mode included.
The base iteration of LTE device will go 16-gigabytes, with the support of MicroSD card for further expansion up to 128GB.
The software inside the phone are not cutting-edge, though the new improved Float UI allows users to open several app windows at the same time — just like Samsung’s multi-window function.
Encased in an 8.99mm frame, the S2 gives you 4G data speeds, capable of connecting to the Web at a dizzying 150Mbps, claims Acer. Other usual features on the Phablet include WiFi, NFC, GPS, and a digital compass.
The Acer Liquid S2 will be available in black or red, by the end of October. The details on pricing are unknown yet.
