Acer, after launching a couple of Chromebook laptops in India this month, has now launched its convertible laptop, the Aspire R 13 aka Aspire R13, in the country at Rs. 83,999. The laptop will be available in select Croma retail stores. The device was announced at last year's IFA 2014 alongside the Aspire R14, Aspire Switch 10, and Aspire Switch 11.
The highlight of the Acer Aspire R13 is its six convertible modes. The laptop can be used in Notebook mode, Ezel mode, Stand mode, Pad mode, Tent mode and Display mode.
The Aspire R 13 features a 13.3-inch IPS touch display that comes in two different resolutions - quad-HD 2560x1440 pixels or full-HD 1920x1080 pixels, the latter being available in India - with Zero Air Gap Technology. The company has also included Acer Active Pen just like the Microsoft Surface. Acer had offered various options in RAM and processors at the time of the announcement.
However, the Windows 8.1-based model that has been launched in India is powered by a fourth generation Intel Core i5 processor with up to 8GB of RAM. The convertible laptop also sports 512GB of inbuilt storage with RAID-0 support. While the firm did not mention the battery capacity of the convertible laptop, it did mention the battery to deliver up to 8 hours. the Acer Aspire R 13 is thinner than 1-inch and weighs around 1.5kgs.
Some of the other features included in the laptop are the Acer Screen Grasp app that is aimed at enabling users to take a screen grab, personalise and quickly share it on social websites. The Acer AccuFinger is claimed to helps users accurately place the cursor in text documents and do certain precision tasks using the fingers. Besides being Skype-certified, the Aspire R13 also packs Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre audio technology.
