AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla enter Test cricket’s elite club

AB de Villiers scored his 8000th run in his 172nd innings while Hashim Amla scored his 7000th run in his 152nd innings.

South Africa batsmen AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla have joined the elite 8000 and 7000-run clubs in Tests respectively.

South Africa captain Amla also reached his milestone in the same Test. Both the batsmen batting together with Amla scoring his 24th Test hundred. He also became the South Africa fastest batsman, in 152 innings, to reach the 24 hundred mark bettering Jacques Kallis record of 164.

For his 7000 runs, Amla took 152 innings, four more than Graeme Smith who is the quickest to reach the mark for South Africa. Kallis and AB are second and third in the list, both with 151 innings.
