Injured batsman Aaron Finch has been
axed as national captain for the
upcoming T20 WC in India in March,
Cricket Australia announced on
Tuesday (February 9). Steven Smith,
Australia's Test and One-Day
International skipper, will take over in
the shortest format of the game, too.
Rod Marsh, chairman of national
selection committee, said the panel
favours Smith over Finch as it is the
right time for the former to take over
captaincy across formats for it offers
the team some continuity.

International captain in October 2014
and Smith took over in ODIs and Tests
after Michael Clarke's retirement at
the end of the ICC Cricket World Cup
and failed Ashes campaign in England,
last year, respectively.
