A police case has been filed against the owner of a Twitter handle, who is being accused of allegedly harassing a female journalist. According to The Hindu, the Delhi police have narrowed down on the suspect and will soon be making an arrest.
Journalist Swati Chaturvedi filed an FIR against the owner of the Twitter handle @LutyensInsider, accusing the owner of making ‘sexist remarks’ against her. The account had over 40,000 followers at the time of filing the FIR, but has since been suspended by Twitter.
While the police have yet to reveal the identity of the person, the accused is believed to be a print journalist based out of Delhi. The handle was used to post tweets on politics, and also reveal inside information from the corridors of power.
Chaturvedi says that she has been informed about an imminent arrest. But with the police yet to confirm anything, she won’t hesitate to choose other avenues. “If the person is not arrested soon, I will not hesitate to take the matter to the court or to the National Commission for Women. This is the first case of its kind, there needs to be some conclusion,” Chaturvedi told the publication.
