Dhotre's clarification about Spectrum sold in this month's auction being usable for 5G right away cuts the 6 months notice period which would otherwise have delayed the 5G launch by operators. Now we can expect commercial 5G launch by Jio and Airtel as early as June July. Both will want to grab the first mover advantage. Jio is better placed to have a Pan India rollout on band 40 and Airtel might do it on band 3 in select cities.

this was also notified in NIA before aution.

secondly as u said before, jio may roll out 5g on older 20mhz from band 40 and shift 4g operation to newly acquired 20mhz of band 40.

same can be true for band 41 of vi.

No that's the whole point, the NIA had no word on liberalised spectrum being usable for 5G from the time of allotment. It specifically said it can be used for GSM, CDMA, HSPA, LTE right away and for every other technology (including 5G NR) the operators need to give a 6 months notice period (which was earlier 1 year). Now Dhotre has clarified that the spectrum can be used for 5G right away, no need for even the 6 months notice period.

That would be needed to avoid the 6 months waiting period, after Dhotre's clarification Jio can very well use the newly acquired band 40 spectrum also for 5G.

Yes Vi can utilise it's entire band 41 spectrum holding for 5G if they want.

Only iPhone support N40 5G band, also they will run 4G and 5G at the same time with DSS I think, else already choking 4G will further choke
