Mercedes Benz India have rolled out the all-new 2013 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG in the country today at a starting price of Rs 1.46 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The model that was first seen at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show has now replaced the out-going G55 AMG SUV in the Indian market.

As we expected, the design of the new G-Class has been kept largely untouched - except for a few minor updates - to keep in line with the design tradition of the SUV that hasn't evolved though its 33 years of existence. The minor updates such as the new front grille, front bumper, new LED lights and stylish 20-inch alloys however, make the new G-Class look even more aggressive and outrageous. The new G-Class also features side mounted exhaust pipes, which ways out from the bottom of the rear doors on each side.

On the inside, there are a number of new features and updates such as a new TFT screen with Command system There is also new leather upholstery with leather door panelling. Other key features include Adaptive Curise Control, Parktronic, Blind Spot Assist, Reverse Camera to name a few.

Safety features include ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Trailer Stability Assist, Hill Hold Assist, Blins Spot Assist, etc.

Under the hood, is the potent twin-turbocharged, 5.5-litre V8 engine that coughs out 549PS of max power, which marks a 30PS increase in power when compared to the outgoing G55 AMG model and 780Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed 7G-Tronic gearbox. The 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph. The stop-start technology along with brake energy recuperation system on the new G63 AMG contributes to better fuel economy.
