10digi launched its online platform to offer free delivery of SIMs, data cards and dongles, directly to home, besides offering bill payments, recharges and number portability with ease.
The direct to home facility of SIM cards is the first of its kind in the country, the company said Tuesday.
The company, backed by SoftAge that has converted over 500 million physical documents to digital, will offer biometric scanning as part of eKYC which will be done at the doorstep. With an Aadhar card, activation of a SIM can be quickened to anywhere between 15 mins to four hours.
"We intend to tap 5% of the customer base across 135 cities within a year," Ozair Yasin, co-founder of 10digi said. The company will hire 10,000 employees in a phased manner across India and will begin offering the free delivery of SIMs and plans directly to home from Delhi NCR. About 500 mobile retailers will be delivering the services to consumers' doorstep in the capital over the next three months.
State capitals will follow in the quarter after March, 2017.
10digi has so far tied up with Vodafone , Tata Teleservices and Idea Cellular , and said that it will add more telecom partners going forward. It has invested over Rs 75 lakh in initial phase and will invest Rs 2 crore in Delhi expansion.
The company added that it is open to investments into 10digi, which has till now been funded by SoftAge.
