Reliance Jio to increase tariff rates from 6 December

Reliance Jio on Sunday announced that it will revise it’s all-in-one (AIO) plans and price them up to 40% higher than current rates. The telecom service provider also added that it will provide 3 times more benefits although it hasn’t mentioned any details about these benefits. The new plans will be effective from December 6.

However, Jio has not released any details about the new plans. Reliance Jio’s AIO plans come with Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for all off-net calls from Jio to any other network. After exhausting FUP limit, customers are charged at 6 paise per minute for all off-net calls.

The operator in a statement said that in order to strengthen the telecom sector it will increase tariff in a manner that does not adversely impact data consumption or growth in digital adoption and sustains investments. The company further added that “While remaining committed to the ultimate interest of the consumer, Jio will take all necessary steps to help sustain the Indian telecommunications industry.”

Earlier today Vodafone Idea and Airtel have also announced new prepaid plans with a tariff hike of about 42%, their new plans will be effective from 3 December 2019.
