Zomato, previously known as Foodiebay.com, a food and lifestyle guide that had previously launched Android and Blackberry apps, have now launched an iOS app for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch-es. The app allows users to search for nearby restaurants based on their location. The app performs the same services as the website, in that it allows users to look at menus, contact details, photographs, location and discounts for restaurants, all from the phone itself. They claim their website itself gets around 6,00,000 page views every month.
The website is nearly three years old and is present in 9 cities around India: Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. The iOS application is available for free from the App Store or from Zomato's website itself.

Zomato is already the source of all the places you can visit to eat, and now it is helping you click yummy photos of the food you eat. The company has added features to its app that let users edit and add filters to the food pictures they post on the app. Considering most of us click pictures of our food from ten different angles and apply multiple filters to it before putting it up on the social media, Zomato has hit the bull’s eye with the new feature.

Google is making it even easier for you to place food orders and book a table at your favourite restaurant via Search. The company is integrating Zomato and Swiggy directly into Search.

Now when you search for a restaurant on their phone, they will see an option to “Place an order” in the search results. The result will let you choose from Zomato or food delivery services like Swiggy and tapping on it will take you to their website to complete the order. Along with ordering food, users can even book a table at a restaurant directly from Google Search by clicking on a partner’s link and you will be taken to their site to make your reservation.

You will be able to order food via Zomato and Swiggy, and make your restaurant reservations with Dineout and Bytplus using Google Search and the Google app on your Android or iOS phone or tablet. These features are just rolling out and Google will add more partners and improve UI over time.

Online restaurant guide and food delivery startup Zomato has introduced tamper-proof packaging to add an extra layer of safety to food deliveries. Here, the food will be sealed by the restaurant and the packet can only be opened by cutting off the top-end strip.

According to the company, it will also feature a ‘100% SAFELY SEALED’ badge on the app for all restaurants who sign-up to use the packaging, further educating users in the decision-making process when ordering food online.
