Islamabad: Shortly after banning Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, Pakistan government has extended a ray of hope to the film’s producers. Pakistan has said that they are willing to let the film release in Pakistan if the climax shows Pakistan winning the 2007 T20 World Cup.
2007 T20 World Cup was one of the high points of MS Dhoni’s career. In the final, India beat Pakistan by 5 runs with Misbah Ul Haq spooning a catch to Sreesanth off Joginder Sharma’s bowling to bring curtains to Pakistan's hopes. The loss has rankled Pakistan ever since as this was the closest they ever came to beating Indian in a Cricket World Cup.
Earlier, Pakistan had issued a ban on the film which is scheduled to release this Friday. Though no official reason was given for the ban, there were speculations that the ban is either a result of the protests against Pakistani artists in India or due to the fact that Pakistan isn’t shown beating India in a world cup in the movie.
“It is a very small request, instead of Misbah spooning a catch to fine leg, just show him clearing the boundary and Pakistan winning the World Cup. We can’t beat India in a World Cup in reality, ab films me to jita do yaar. We will release the film and it will run very successfully all over Pakistan. It may well become the biggest hit of all time”, a Pakistani government official said.
“If the producers don’t agree, Indian government should step in and ask for the necessary changes in the film. Letting Pakistan win one match at a world cup will go a long way in improving India-Pakistan ties. We can shoot the climax here in Pakistan only if they want, we have plenty of unemployed actors these days”, the official added.
Meanwhile, the ‘Mauka Mauka’ guy was seen standing outside a cinema hall with his box of crackers hoping that film’s climax will be changed.
