WhatsApp has introduced new features in its Windows app for beta testers. The beta version is bumped up to version 2.17.86, and it brings more information of individual chats including the number of media shared. There's also a new Size tab that tells users which chat is eating up the most space, and which chat takes up the least amount of storage in the app.

The WhatsApp beta update for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1 brings more details on individual chats in the app. By just clicking on individual chats, you get to know how many texts there are, how many photos and GIFs have been shared, and so on. There's also a new Size Tab that organizes information on the bases of photo and videos sizes shared in chats, and not number. This looks to help users delete media-heavy chats to clear up space quickly during a shortage.

The changelog reads, "Clicking on individual chats now gives you more detailed information. The Size tab contains the same data in a different order since the size is sorted by the size of Images and Text but not by the number."

Of course all of this is only available for beta testers, and you can opt to become one by heading to the Windows Store. This latest beta update is compatible only with Windows 10 Mobile, and Windows Phone 8.1 users.

One more bad move. Now it will create problems in msg editing via cursor because of short space .

They need to add contacts tab which they removed in last update when they added status tab. ... that's the worst and bad move whatsapp have made so far.

WhatsApp for Android to make it easier to initiate voice and video calls, share attachments

Earlier today, we reported about WhatsApp testing a new feature that will let businesses directly talk to their customers. While that’s how Facebook is trying to monetize the platform, WhatsApp continues add as many new features as it can to the messaging platform. The video calling feature has been around for a while now, but the option was grouped under the call icon. Now, with the latest update to the beta Android app, WhatsApp has separated voice and video call icons.

The new changes come as a part of WhatsApp beta version 2.17.93 update. Earlier, when you were in individual chats, the top bar had the person’s name, the calling icon, add attachments ‘clip’ icon and menu options. Now, with the latest update, you get two separate icons for video calling and voice calling on the top bar.

Also, the add attachments icon has now been moved to the bottom bar where you type a message, just besides the camera icon. What’s more, the bottom bar has also been redesigned – now you have capsule type interface and new camera icon, rather than the rectangular interface with message icon.

These changes are only applicable in WhatsApp beta app, and if you haven’t already registered for beta program, you can do so by visiting this link and signing with your Google account. Talking about the recent changes, WhatsApp recently crossed the 200 million monthly active users milestone in India. With the government pushing digital payments, WhatsApp is also looking forward to integrating payments in its messaging platform.

WhatsApp also recently rolled out new ‘Status’ feature that lets you share photos, videos and GIFs, just like you can do on Snapchat stories. To make the app more secured, WhatsApp also introduced a two-step verification process for 1.2 billion users, adding an extra layer of security to the app.
