Steve Smith, the Australian captain,
has been fined 30 percent of his match
fee for showing dissent towards the
on-field umpire and breaching the
International Cricket Council (ICC) Code
of Conduct during the fourth day of
the second Test against New Zealand
in Christchurch on Tuesday (February
23).

According to a statement released by
the ICC, Smith was found to have
breached Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code
of Conduct for Players and Player
Support Personnel, which relates to
"showing dissent at an umpire's
decision during an international
match."
The Australian skipper and Josh
Hazlewood, his fast bowler, were
miffed with Ranmore Martinesz, one of
the on-field umpires, for turning down
an LBW appeal against Kane
Williamson in the second innings.
Smith opted for a review and replays
showed a thin inside edge.
