They will be competing against BSNL not Jio. Satellite internet is requirement of rural areas. At urban areas you got local companies who are giving competition to likes of Jio and Airtel.

Airtel has oneweb in pipeline and Jio too has its own internet satellite service in pipeline if I am not wrong.. What happened to them.

Ahead of Elon Musk's visit to India, the tech billionaire's satellite-based internet service Starlink has reportedly received tentative approval from the Ministry of Communications. Todays Business Standard gave the news that STARLINK may still take time as after TRAI 's recommendation where it gets consulted from all stakeholders . DOT will take a final call on the matter. Also home ministries approvals on security too is pending . It will take at least 3 months to process all these.
