Sharp ties up with Ricoh for Aquos Zeta smartphone with 22MP camera

Recently Huawei revealed that the company partnered with German optics and camera specialist Leica to build its P9 smartphone that features a dual lens setup. Now Sharp has revealed that it has tied up with camera manufacturer Ricoh to build its flagship smartphone called the Aquos Zeta that is expected to pack in a 22.6MP camera.

As reported by Phonesreview, the device features a 5.3 inch IGZO high-definition LCD display with Full HD resolution. The screen also features 2.5D curved glass and features Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor with 3GB of RAM. The devices includes an internal storage of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 200GB via a microSD card.

Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Sharp’s Al emopa 4.0 on top, the new Aquos Zeta comes equipped with a 22.6MP rear camera, which includes Ricoh GR lens certification and f/1.9 aperture that can focus in just 0.4 seconds. It is rated to offer high quality images and the camera also packs 4K video capture, 240fps video, and time lapse at 120fps. On the front you get a 5MP front-facing camera with a wide-angle lens.

There is also a fingerprint sensor below the power button on one side and the device is dust and waterproof. A 3000 mAh battery, completes the package. The smartphone is expected to be released in early June 2016.
