The England women’s cricket team is still reeling from the shock retirement of skipper Charlotte Edwards and now their star keeper-batter Sarah Taylor has temporarily walked away from the game too, citing personal reasons. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said that they would ”support her, keep in touch and talk with her prior to selection for the Pakistan series and the start of the Super League”. BBC reported that Taylor could still be a part of the home series against Pakistan in June.

Taylor is one of the more eye-catching names in the game and is England’s third highest run-getter and has gone on to become one of the mainstays in the England lineup. The English side is one of the best in the Women’s game and have regularly featured in the final stages of championships, only to be denied by Meg Lanning’s Australia. The reasons for Taylor’s break is not known.

Taylor took a sabbatical from the game last year too. During the time, she had gone on to become the first woman cricketer to play first-grade cricket in Australia. In 101 One-Day International (ODI) matches, Taylor has amassed 3261 runs at an average of 39.76. In Twenty 20 (T20) cricket, Taylor has played 81 matches, scoring 2054 runs at 30.20
