After launching the LYF Flame 8 exclusively on Flipkart, Reliance Digital has now launched a new entry-level Android smartphone under its Flame-series. Called LYF Flame 7, the smartphone will set you back by Rs 3,499. As with other LYF-series smartphones, the main USP of the Flame 8 support for VoLTE HD voice calling. The smartphone is available to purchase from Reliance Digital, Digital Xpress mini and other local retail stores.

Reliance Digital LYF Flame 7 specifications

The smartphone features a 4-inch WVGA display (480×800 pixels) with pixel density of 218ppi and covered with Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection. It is powered by a Spreadtrum SC9830A quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, paired with 1GB of RAM and Mali-400 GPU. With 8GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot with support for up to 32GB is also present.

In the photography department, the Flame 7 features a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel selfie camera.
Equipped with a 1,750mAh battery, the company claims to offer up to four and half hours of talktime on 4G network. Connectivity options on the smartphone include dual SIM card slots (micro) with 4G LTE and VoLTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out of the box.

Reliance Digital LYF Flame 7 features

The smartphone comes with support for 10 Indian languages, including Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati among others – allowing you to type, chat and save contacts in your preferred language. The company has also included a pop-up video player, which allows you to text or browse the internet while watching your favorite videos uninterrupted while doing other tasks. Having said that, it remains to be seen whether the low-power Spreadtrum processor would be able to handle the feature.

Back in June, Reliance Digital had launched the LYF Flame 5 for Rs 3,999, but with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, it fell short in front of competition. Now, with the Flame 7, the company has not only doubled the amount of RAM and onboard storage, but has also cut down the price, making it cheaper by Rs 500.

The Flame 7 will take on the likes of Intex Cloud Fame, Phicomm Clue 630 and Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus all of which are priced at Rs 3,999 and sport slightly better specifications, such as higher battery capacity, 5-inch display and Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS on some smartphones. Still, one key takeaway with Flame 7 is the Jio Preview offer where you get unlimited high speed 4G internet access, unlimited and HD voice calling and an unlimited access to Jio suite of apps for watching live TV, listening to music, watching on demand movies and more.
