The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune is setting up 12 high-tech ambient air quality monitoring stations at various locations in the city and will set up 20 LED displays that will provide real-time pollution data. This project is part of the nationwide System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) under the Union ministry of earth sciences.
IITM will be implementing the project along with IIPH, Gandhinagar and AMC. The locations have been finalized by IITM and IIPH, Gandhinagar based on an elaborate emissions inventory study. Citizens can access this data via a mobile application and see a real-time report of ambient air quality in their area.
