Spectrum expiring in 2021 has been removed from the chart to make room for spectrum won in the auction next month. Yellow colour will now represent spectrum with validity up to 2041.
Also Sub GHz and total spectrum holding of private operators and circle wise spectrum caps added to the article.
good work,

Esmail bhai, when we can expect DOT to publish spectrum holding per telco?

also do u have any info regarding what BSNL is going to do with 10Mhz band 3 spectrum in delhi, what is progress for selecting new vendor for 4G gears?

Sometime in the next 24 days.
also do u have any info regarding what BSNL is going to do with 10Mhz band 3 spectrum in delhi,
Will use it for 4G services what else.
what is progress for selecting new vendor for 4G gears?
No idea bro, surely not Huawei or ZTE, lets see if they go with European vendors or an indigenous solution.

Chart updated with the latest spectrum holding info released by DOT as of 25th Feb 2021. Tikona's holding in the 2300 MHz band is shown under Airtel even though the acquisition has not been officially taken on record by DoT yet. For the sake of calculation of spectrum cap, it is still considered as Airtel's holding.

Yes, I had included the MTS 850 MHz Spectrum under Jio since I though Rcom had traded it with Jio but turns out it is still owned by Rcom not Jio, so transferred it back to Rcom column.

Also, one anomaly is that in 2012 DoT had auctioned the 1800 MHz spectrum in block sizes of 1.25 MHz instead of 0.2 MHz and later reverted back to 0.2 MHz block size for all subsequent auctions. Now to bring parity Dot rounded off the 1.25 MHz block to 1.4 MHz, 2.5 to 2.6 and 7.5 to 7.6 MHz for Vi but for Airtel it hasn't given the same consideration for Assam circle, it is still 1.25 MHz only, not sure why the discrimination with Airtel.

Accordingly I have rectified the sub GHz and total spectrum holding figures of the Pvt operators in the tables in the article.

@Esmail bro. What will happen to UVARCL (RCom and Aircel Spectrum) ?? They are having huge amount of Band 5 (mostly from MTS) , Band 1 spectrum, 10MHz of Band3 in TN, 5MHz of Band 8 in MP and HP as well. Looks like Jio wants to totally give it a miss as it has got their own minimum 10MHz of Band 5 in almost all circles. Whether anybody will go for them or it will be given back to Govt?? If there is one who can buy (with huge discount), that will be Airtel, as Jio doesn't need Band 8 or Band 1 and got all the necessary Band 5 and Band 3 for themselves.

I am expecting another drama in near future. Jio got 8.75MHz (out of 12.5MHz available) in Delhi, got 6.25MHz (out of 13.75MHz available) in AP. Airtel has 1,25MHz in Delhi and 3.75MHz in AP lying unused in Band 5. Something fishy, right???

@kanagadeepan

airtel is emrged in last 20 years mainly by acquring smaller player or spectrum from these small telco( videocon)

and during SC verdict, Jios lawyer clearly said, we are really not interested in rcom spectrum, dont look at us with doubtful NAZAR.

so JIO went ahead and carefully pick band 5 and3 and added sufficeint band40 for grabbing 2g customers.

Its airtel who are still in stage of deployment of band 1 in various circle, so grabbing badn1 from aircel and rcom is in back of mind for Airtel. There DNA allow it to do regualarly.

ssuprise comes when for MP, airtel choosen band 5, instead of band 8, even after it was available, with minor price diffeerence. and as evient from Airtel stategy for avoiding costly spectrum from delhi and trade/share spectrum in delhi,AP. we can clearly forecast that rcom band 8 is interest for Airtel and airtels band 5 is interested for jio

regarding band 5 and band 3. Airtel and jio may divide it carefully ,id SC nd DOT allow it so, Otherwise Mr Anshu prakash can hangover scared resource for few more months/years before putting back to auction .

If Airtel grabbed all, if not most of the Bands 1, 3 and 8 spectrum of Aircel and RCom, then VoId will be doomed, imho.... But all symptoms point in that direction only, as Airtel has willfully avoided all spectrum (mainly Band 1) in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab and even AP. Why pay full price to Govt, when you can get it with discount from RCom. If Airtel / Jio are not going for them, then Govt takes those spectrum back and UVARCL gets Baba Ji ka...

@saketk11 bro, Band 5 spectrum is around 37% cheaper than Band 8 spectrum in MP circle (143cr vs 195cr per MHz). So Airtel has gone for it. From RCom, it will get with some discount (almost same as Band 5 price, I guess).
