MWC 2016: Samsung's Creative Lab backs IoFit smart shoes starting at $199

While smartphones will be the main highlight from Samsung at the MWC 2016, the company will also showcase some interesting smart devices. The company’s Creative Lab has backed a startup called Salted Venture that has built smart shoes.
The smart shoes come embedded with sensors helping you detect the balance and posture that will use information and help you improve your fitness. The product is called IoFit. Two models of the Iofit shoes will be on display – one meant for running and another for workouts and golf. These shoes depend upon pressure sensors and accelerometers for measurements and send information to a connected Android app. The app displays information in real time and also makes suggestions later.
The creators behind IOFIT claim they’ve recognised the limitations of wearables such as smartwatches, fitness trackers and other smart shoes currently available on the market. “They’re tracking and throwing around all these data points and suggesting problems, but not providing a solution to the problem,” Jacob Cho, CEO of Salted Venture. “The few devices that have been able to offer a solution are trying to serve as an alternative to training with a coach, and attempting to build something greater than a human-to-human experience.”
The Iofit shoes will be priced at $199 for fitness shoes and $259 for goft shoes. The startup is expected to crowdfund the project once it is unveiled
