LG launches first panic button enabled smartphone in India

LG India launched the first smartphone - K10 2017 - which has the panic button, aimed at ensuring women safety, and has been made in India.

The model, priced around Rs 14,000, becomes amongst the first new launches of the year which has complied with the government's mandate of having the panic button facility from March 1, 2017.

Tha panic button gets enabled by long pressing the power button, and gets connected to 112 number, for all emergency calls.

"I'm sure other manufacturers will follow suit, and GPS will be enabled from January 2018," IT and Electronics minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

The new phone has a 5.3-inch HD screen, with a 13 MP rear and 5 MP cameras, finger print scanner, powered by 2,800 mAh battery, with Android 7 OS, and 4G Volte capability.
