the LG G3 was amongst the first
smartphones in the world to get the update to
Android 5.0 Lollipop. Now, DigiPassion, a tech
blog is reporting that even the Indian version
of the phone has started receiving the update
to Android Lollipop.

The South Korean company has been working
overtime for the Android Lollipop update.
It is worth noting that DigiPassion did not
receive an over the air (OTA) update, but
instead updated the phone using the LG Mobile
support tool for Windows PCs.

Reportedly, the update stands at 1.1GB for the
Indian variant. 13 apps get updated, and new
features include improved notifications, new
lock screen notifications, new animations, a
colour inversion feature, and a new task
manager with tabs.

Other than this, the Lollipop update includes
new features like the ART Runtime
environment and support for 64-bit apps. That
said, as the 32-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 801
CPU powers the G3, it will not have 64-bit
support.

Already, LG had rolled out the Lollipop update
in many countries in Europe. Users in Austria,
the Baltics, Belgium, Croatia, Germany,
Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain and
the UK have already received the update.
Earlier in the day, Sony sent out a tweet to a
user indicating that the Xperia Z3 and Xperia
Z2 will get the update to Lollipop early next
year.

Samsung and Motorola have already pushed
the Lollipop update to phones like Galaxy S5
and the Moto G. HTC is also expected to
release the Lollipop update for its One (M7)
and One (M8) sometime in Q1, 2015.
The LG G3 was launched in India back in
August 2014.
