As expected, Lenovo today launched the K8 Note, which as the name suggests is the successor to the K6 Note launched last year. The smartphone is priced at Rs 12,999 for the 3GB/32GB variant and 13,999 for the 4GB/64GB option. The smartphone is placed in a tough segment that includes the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Honor 6X and Coolpad Cool 1. With that in mind, here’s a look at the top features of the new Lenovo K8 Note.

But before we move on to the features of the smartphone, here’s a quick look at the specifications. It comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, and features a deca-core Helio X23 chip that uses 4x ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz, 4x ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.85 GHz and 2x ARM Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with dual-SIM connectivity, 4G with VoLTE support, and a micro-USB port for charging and data transfers.

Here are the top features of the Lenovo K8 Note:

Dual-camera setup

The K8 Note comes with a dual-camera setup at the rear – a primary 13-megapixel sensor alongside a secondary 5-megapixel sensor enabling the smartphone to capture depth-of-field information for bokeh shots and re-focus. The rear camera has a dual-LED CCT flash module. On the front, there is a 13-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/2/2.

Battery

The smartphone is powered by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and supports rapid charging with the bundled 15W rapid charger in the box. The Lenovo K8 Note is the first smartphone from the brand to ship with a rapid charger, as per the company claims. The battery is said to last for up to 24.7 hours of talk time, and 378 hours of standby time.

Stock Android

The K8 Note is the first device from Lenovo to run on a near stock version of Android. Previous Lenovo smartphones ran Vibe UI. However, Lenovo has now ditched the Vibe UI and has replaced it with stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat which is among the main highlights of this device, which also makes the look of the UI very similar to what we’re used to seeing on Motorola smartphones.

Splash resistance

Lenovo K8 Note sports a metal unibody design. It isn’t entirely made of metal, though – the top and bottom edges are plastic, which seamlessly blends with the rest of the design. The device is splash resistant with water-repellent nano-coating. The nano-coating doesn’t mean the phone is completely waterproof, but the device can take splashes of water without risk of damage. Dolby Atmos
Lenovo has added TheaterMax VR and Dolby Atmos. Just like previous Lenovo phones, Dolby Atmos surround-sound technology is supported out-of-the-box. On the other hand, the smartphone also comes with Lenovo’s proprietary TheaterMax technology which offers a VR-like experience.
