Be a tomb raider, be a basketball star, or be a MotoX rider. Here is our pick from some of the best games released this month.

Lara Croft: Relic Run

Lara Croft seems to make a comeback in the world of gaming, be it PC, console or mobile. Once a cult action game, the Lara Croft series lost its touch as lacklustre titles filled the shelves. Lara Croft: Relic Run, however, is nothing like the games you have played before. It pushes the boundary of endless running games by adding fresh parkour moves, as well as two entirely new running paths, thanks to its wall-running move.

Relic Run is smooth, fast paced and while it may remind you of Temple Run 2, once you start running you can see how it is a whole new ball game. The graphics are great, controls are tight, which you can expect from a Square Enix game, but its the wall-running move where Relic Run scores its brownie points. When Lara comes across a seemingly difficult hurdle on her path, all you need to is swipe an extra left or right and Lara will launch herself into feline wall run, a la Prince of Persia.

Add to that awesome parkour cutscenes, free falling sections and Lara’s signature motor cycles, and you have a running game that stands out of the crowd. This is one you should not miss.

Rebus
Jutiful Ltd
Free, 28 MB

The easygoing colour palette used by the developers make Rebus looks like child’s play. However, the puzzles are far from the same. While some are fun and instantaneous, the game gets harder with each level you clear.

Exempli gratia, an M appears on the screen, sitting on DAY. What is it? What could it possibly be? Why, its M on DAY…MONDAY! Get it? Okay one more, you see little rain drops forming the letter T. What do you think that could be? T made by RAIN – its TRAIN!

The puzzles are quirky, no doubt. But when you are actually able to solve a tough one you feel like you can run circles around Sherlock Holmes and that, in itself, makes it worth downloading the game. So go ahead, challenge yourself and see if you best Rebus.

The movie introduced us to our own homegrown Sherlock Holmes. Now, the Calcutta sleuth has his very own mobile game. Usually, movie-inspired games (especially Bollywood ones) are not worth you data. However, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy plays its cards right and delivers a game that is engaging as well as interesting.

Based on a similar gameplay as Criminal Case, this one is a simple point and click puzzle game based in 1943’s Calcutta. The murders are gruesome, the story is great and the treatment is spectacular. Detective Byomkesh Bakshy can easily take up hours of your time and just like Byomkesh himself. The game is worth a try.
