Best IT World, manufacturer of iBall brand of PCs and peripherals, has ventured into the vast mobile handsets market.
“Presently, there are over 700 million mobile phone subscribers in India. Monthly demand is over 20 million handsets per month. Annually the demand is set to cross 250 million handsets in India. But these potential customers have different requirements,” said Sandeep Parasrampuria, Director, Best IT World. “Realizing this gap and keeping up with our reputation to understand the psychology of the Indian consumer, iBall has come up with handsets—custom-made to cater to the requirement of the different class of people at different age group.”
The iBall range has been segmented under seven categories—Shaan, Waterproof, Sleec, Flip, Posh, Touch, and Senior. “Through this segmented strategy the brand will be looking at different segment demographics, consumer preferences, specialized requirements. For instance, the Senior segment is to cater to the needs of aged people and has a feature called SOS button. Within 7 seconds of pressing SOS button, the handset sends a siren to alert the surrounding people know that the person is in trouble and should be immediately attended to. It also sends SMS to pre-defined five numbers and starts dialing those numbers automatically one after another till one call is attended,” claimed Parasrampuria.
The waterproof handsets have been created keeping in mind the Indian weather and lifestyle of working Indians. At the launch event, Parasrampuria immersed the phone inside a bowl full of water for over 10 minutes. The biggest USP of this waterproof mobile phone is it floats on water.
The Sleec category consists of the slimmest Qwerty phones. With 8mm in thickness, the model is 65 percent thinner than any of the competing Qwerty models. The phone comes with dual battery, dual camera and dual sim.
iBall will be simultaneously launching its handsets in over 400 cities through 500 distributors across the country.
