How to turn off Google Discover on Chrome for Android

To turn Discover articles on or off

1. On your Android phone, open the Chrome app
2. Open a new tab.
3. Next to "Discover," tap More (three dots) Turn off or Turn on.

Did Google not allow earlier 'Articles For You' to be Hidden? The Discover and Turn Off seems new but I think they just rebranded what was earlier present?

Correct. Earlier it used to show hidden. Now it shows as off. But earlier clicking on the Discover bar used to reopen the cards but now it doesn't and you have to click on three dots and enable it back.
