Whether you are headed home or you are planning a holiday, the biggest headache of planning a travel is finding the cheapest possible flights. Whenever you book a flight, you are always doubtful if you did get the best deal and if you could have managed a more economical flights with a little more research. And that very research is what is exhausting and extremely time-consuming, despite there being many travel planning portals and apps. In a bid to address the problem almost every traveler faces, Google is soon going to roll out an update to its Flights app, which will notify users when flight prices are likely to shoot up or fall, and when would be the best time to book a ticket. Fare expiration and expected price jump notifications will be rolling out over the coming weeks everywhere the Google Flights app is available.

With the update, after an user selects a specific flight, they will receive notifications advise on how much the cost of the flight will go up and in how many days. This update is in addition to some tips that the app will provide for booking tickets within best price. For example, if you’re looking at a certain route like New Delhi to London, but haven’t selected a specific flight yet, you would be notified by the app with multiple tips showing how to find the best price for that particular route. Tips can include things like recommendations for alternate airports or dates. The app will also send across booking advice about an expected price jump based on historic prices for that route. When you tap on the notification, you’ll see more details like how much the price is likely to increase and when.

Additionally, in case you find a route or flight that suits you best, but the price still doesn’t seem like the best deal, you can choose to track your flight or route and receive notifications via email letting you know when prices are expected to change. User will continue to receive updates when prices actually do increase or decrease significantly for tracked flights.

Also, the update makes it easier for users to find flights on the go. Which means, the saved flights on the Google Flights app, can be tracked and managed seamlessly on a smartphone. Along with that, the app also allows users to randomly explore destinations according to the kind of vacation they wish for. For instance, you can look for destinations to may be Greece and check for direct flights only, or whatever suits your schedule. In addition to that, similar to other travel booking services like MakeMyTrip and iBibo, the app allows users to plan their travels, along with pre-booking suitable hotels.

Google has lately been paying a lot of attention to users travel needs. Only last month, Google launched Trips, a new personalized mobile app, which allows users to plan their vacations and other travel better and in an easier manner. Google Trips app is a personalized tour guide, which customizes each trip according to a user’s need. Each trip contains key categories of information, including day plans, reservations, things to do, food & drink, and more, so a user has everything they need at their fingertips.

For over 200 cities in the world, Google has pre-planned itinerary, which have popular sights and attractions assembled in them, for an entire day of tour, which users can spread to multiple days at their convenience. Additionally, Google Trips gives users the option to choose to add destinations to the itinerary and build their day around places their already know they want to visit. Also, the app gives its users an offline access to all their information. The entire app is available offline, which users can access by simply tapping the “Download” button under each trip to save it to their phone.

That said, the amount of information we share with Google with these apps is kind of scary. Earlier this year, Google launched a new dashboard called ‘My Activity ’, which shows all of a user’s online activities such as search history, video searches and places they have visited, which backdates to the time they made a Google ID. The new dashboard improves upon Google’ previous My Account dashboard, which allows users to manage and control Google experience on products like Search and Maps. However, if you look at it from a different perspective, Google has the log of every bit of information about you. It uses that very information to show you advertisements that are personalized according to what you type and search on the web.
