An angry bird fan trying to protect the light from pigs on a Diwali, or gifting sweets may sounds funny, but it may soon become reality in the world's most distributed content 'Angry Birds'.

Rovio Entertainment, the creator of the globally successful Angry Birds franchise is planning to localize its content for the India market.

The plan of localizing the game comes at time when the country is witnessing a rapid growth in smartphone adoption.

“The consumption of mobile entertainment is growing fast especially through smartphones. Our aim is to keep the angry birds experience fresh and relevant for our users. We want to bring more localized content for the India market,” Peter Vesterbacka, who leads special commercial projects in emerging markets.

Rovio has already tried the localisation of content for China for the Chinese Moon Festival. The game update for Moon Festival episode featured Chinese versions of the theme tune, characters and backgrounds among others. The company is also launching the Japanese version of Angry Birds later this month called as Angry Birds Fight!

Angry Birds, which was released on December 11, 2009 have seen a download of around 2.8 billion across various platform and In 2014 alone it had 600 million downloads.

“We have not finalized on any particular plans, we are having discussions with local Indian developers to partner for developing Indian version of Angry Birds. The many Indian festivals are little heard outside India. We want to develop Angry Birds in India, not only for India but for the world,” he added.

When asked Angry Birds movie, Vesterbacka said, “Next year is a big year for us, it is our first movie year. It is coming on May 20, 2016.”
