Kolkata, Jun 02 : General Motors India, a leading automobile manufacturer of global brand, has sold altogether 8329 vehicles during last month, registering a marginal growth of 1.3 per cent from the corresponding period of last year.

According to GM India sources here, among the total sales during May, Chevrolet Spark sold maximum 3023 units. These were followed by 2144 units of Beat,1767 units of Tavera,659 units of Cruze,240 units of Optra,231 units of Aveo,143 units of Captiva and 135 units of Aveo-Uva.

Quoting GM India Vice-President P Balendran, the sources said because of several factors like hike in bank interest rates besides, those of fuel price, commodity price and inflation rate had led to lesser footfalls in the auto showrooms in the country.

All these factors had caused the company's marginal growth in sales which was not desirable, he added.

However,in spite of these factors a number of new models were in the pipeline before hitting the Indian market soon,Mr Balendran stated.
