In a bid to provide maximum facility to customers and maintain market value, the e-commerce giant Flipkart has resumed cash-on-delivery (CoD) service up to any amount. The service was ceased by the company on November 9 after government's announcement of demonetising high denomination bank notes. It has also clarified that company will not accept banned notes. According to a release, "Flipkart took the initiative to provide every possible facility for a smooth and seamless order processing. We significantly ramped up our card-on-delivery facility and covered the majority of PIN codes, also reaching remote towns." Company's move has come as a big respite for people, who don,t have the e-banking and similar facilities like credit card and e-wallet.

The government in a surprise decision on November 8 had banned Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes which prompted people to stand in serpentine queues outside banks, ATMs and post offices. The situation is not any better as people are spending hours in queues and are still not able to get their old notes exchanged. This decision by Flipkart is definitely not going to help them. However, the company is expecting a surge in the business with this new move.

Talking about the alternative options of payment Flipkart, in a release said, "You are encouraged to opt for card-on-delivery if this payment option is available at your location or keep change ready in denominations other than Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. For your future orders, we urge you to opt for alternative payment modes such as internet banking, credit and debit cards, gift cards, and PhonePe, our easy and convenient UPI and wallets payments solution,"
