Bangalore: Microsoft's newly released IE9 boasted that the browser was downloaded about 2.35 million times in the first 24 hours since its release last week. Microsoft was happy that most of the tech enthusiasts liked the browser. But out beating the numbers of IE9, Mozilla Firefox4 is on fire to beat the browser with 4.7 million downloads in less than 24 hours.

However compared to Firefox 3 it is a lot less than the 8 million copies that were downloaded in 24 hours. It was also known as the "Download Day." Firefox 4 brings in a lot of news features like new security and privacy options, faster loading and JavaScript, support for a variety of new standards including WebM video and WebGL 3D graphics, and 3D acceleration that extends even to Windows XP.

The maker of the Firefox4 said that the browser has 400 million users and is still increasing but the percentage of users across the globe support the Chrome browser which accounts for more than 10 percent of usage worldwide.
