European cyber security provider F-Secure has teamed up with Chinese smartphone manufacturer TCL Corporation to help Android users take control of their online privacy. A new agreement between F-Secure and TCL will see F-Secure’s award-winning “Freedome” virtual private network (VPN) pre-installed on TCL’s Android smartphones and tablets. “Freedome” lets people encrypt their communications over public Wi-Fi, block online tracking attempts and malicious websites, and change their virtual location.

“People talking about encryption and want to know what they should be doing to prevent others from snooping on what they do online. ‘Freedome’ is a user-friendly way to address these concerns,” TCL Corporation said in a statement.

Kirill Zelenski, director of business development at F-Secure, said as mobile devices and services are becoming more popular, securing these devices is becoming more important. “‘Freedome’ has security features that protect both people’s devices and communications, so packaging it with devices is a great way to add value to any smartphone or tablet,” Zelenski added.
