In what can only be called a bonanza for commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) has finally launched free Wi-Fi facilities across metro stations connected by the airport express line. The airport express line connects five key stations to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Wi-Fi was launched on Friday by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Managing Director, Dr Mangu Singh. The facility was launched by Mangu Singh from the Shivaji stadium metro station.

Along with the Shivaji stadium metro station, the other metro station’s in which the facility will be available include the New Delhi station, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aerocity and Dwarka Sector 21. The Wi-Fi facility is titled ”Oui DMRC free Wi-Fi”. The facility can be availed on all six stations on the airport express line including at the IGI International airport.

The process to use the facility is extraordinarily simple. Passengers, who wish to use the facility, will be able to log in simply by searching for Wi-Fi options on the phone. Once the options appear, they need to log into “Oui DMRC free Wi-Fi” option. They will then be able to utilise an unlimited amount of internet data. DMRC aims to extend this facility to all the stations of metro network gradually.

According to official claims, it is reported that the DMRC aims to extend this facility to all the stations of metro network gradually. The facility has been organised by a collaboration between the DMRC and a consortium led by M/S Techno sat communication. The same consortium presently runs India’s first Wi-Fi on the Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani express. The facility will use the globally acclaimed “T-Track 2.0 wave 2 solution” also used on the.

The Wi-Fi facility has been enabled to allow commuters and especially those who travel for business purposes, to access the internet and log into platforms like facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter. In a global age, a connection to one’s emails is non-negotiable and required at all times. The facility provided by the DMRC will utilise the globally acclaimed “T-Track 2.0 wave 2 solution” . The same system is used on the high-speed trains all over the world.

Other Wi-Fi facility provided by the DMRC includes that provided in association with Railtel corporation. This facility presently provides a Wi-Fi facility at four of its major stations in Delhi. These include the Rajiv Chowk , Kashmere Gate , Central Secretariat and Hauz Khas stations.
