The Union Health Ministry has developed a digital platform, including a mobile application, for real-time monitoring of COVID-19 vaccine delivery, recording data and to enable people to get themselves registered for vaccination.
Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the platform, Co-WIN, will help monitor the entire vaccination process.

Vaccination will be done at 10,000 government and more than 20,000 private centres from March 1. The vaccine will be administered free of cost at government centres.

Notably, Co-WIN digital platform is scheduled to transition from Co-WIN 1.0 to Co-WIN 2.0 on February 27 and February 28. As per the Union Health Ministry, no COVID-19 vaccination session will be scheduled during these two days.

Phase 2 beneficiaries will be able to register themselves on the Co-WIN app from Monday itself. There will be reportedly a walk-in provision to register at the session sites as well.

Co-WIN app’s new version will be GPS-enabled.

People will not be able to choose which vaccine (Covishield or Covaxin) they will get in the new version of the Co-WIN platform. However, they can select the date and the centre.

Four appointments can be made on one mobile phone.
"Co-WIN will be able to take registrations and appointments from multiple applications, including Aarogya Setu or any other application such as a common service app,” said RS Sharma, the Chairman of the Empowered Group on COVID-19 Vaccine Administration.
