Back in the days when the Moto X could be used with one hand and Moto Maker was a cool new thing, Motorola was one of the best manufacturers with software updates. Since their skin is so minimal, anything else would be disappointing. But Motorola is not what it once was, and it's fallen behind in terms of software support. The Lenovo-owned company has just released its update roadmap for Android 8.0 Oreo.

Motorola reveals a total of 10 Moto Z and Moto G devices will get Android Oreo, G4 series excluded

Again Lenovo showed its colors..
G3 excluded from Nougat, now G4 excluded from Oreo
Nxt G5 will get excluded from P..

bullsh*t Lenovo.. Where's the two year promise of your updates....???

I guess if you looking for near stock android with os as well as security update nokia is a better choice it seems.Hope they keep up their promise for low-mid ranges also.

Say Hello to Android Oreo

  • moto z
  • moto z Droid
  • moto z Force Droid

  • moto x4
  • moto g5

Moto is stepping back from its promise to update the G4 series to Android o it is removing all the traces of Android O ROM Moto G 4 listing and websites

Read more Motorola isn't updating the Moto G4 line to Android Oreo as it said it would, and that's bullsh*t

Finally it is showing some cheap little dirty tactics from its parent Lenovo
Moto is now coloured with Lenovo pen

nt a new thing. this was started last year itself. Promised updates for 2 years..

Omitted G3 from Nougat in 2016, in 2017 omitted G4 from Oero.
Next year same thing is going to happen for G5..

I Wonder What is going to happen with Moto X play receiving nougat update because they keep delaying that

Here's Motorola's official statement on the matter sent to Android Police:

It’s been brought to our attention that there were some errors in our marketing materials around Android O upgrades for Moto G4 Plus. This was an oversight on our part and we apologize for this miscommunication. It’s our general practice for the Moto G family to get one major OS upgrade per device, but it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading Moto G4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit it into our upgrade schedule. Watch our software upgrade page for more information.

Even their planned upgrades will take 6 to 8 months.. Don't expect an upgrade for atleast a year. Or at the last moment they will tell something went wrong and there's no upgrade for G4.. Nothing can be predicted with Lenovo.
Anyway happy for G4 users, atleast they have told they will gave the update. Not the fate of G3.
