Amkette has launched a new media streaming device called EvoTV2. The successor to the EvoTV which was launched in 2012, the new device runs on Android OS and is priced at Rs 6,999. However, for the first month, the device will be exclusively available on Snapdeal for promotional price of Rs 6,499.
One of the key talking points of the media streaming device is that it lets you stream music, videos, movies and photos from your smartphone or tablet onto your TV. In short, it can make your id*ot box smarter with smart TV features.
The EvoTV2 comes pre-loaded with apps such as Netflix , Voot, Eros Now, Hungama Music, Hotstar, Sony LIV, Saavn Music, Gaana, Star Sports, Soundcloud and a lot more. This means you can stream live sports, favorite songs and TV shows such as Game of Thrones (uncensored), House of Cards, The Walking Dead, Silicon Valley, The Newsroom and more from these content providers. You will however, need subscription to these services to access the content. Amkette is also offering a VPN service, which gives you an access to watch TV shows that aren’t officially available in India.
The media streaming device also comes with YouTube app and casting feature that lets you cast content from your Android, PC, iPhone and iPad (AirPlay) with just a click of a button. That’s not all; you can also download media from apps like Torrent and store it directly on the connected hard drive.
Amkette EvoTV2 specifications and features:
The media streaming device is powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor paired with Mali 450 GPU. With 8GB of internal storage, it includes four USB ports that lets you plug in a USB flash drive or an external hard disk of up to 2TB, a keyboard or mouse. With connectivity options such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS with a layer of Amkette’s custom UI.
The Amkette EvoTV2 also comes with a remote control that lets you control the media streaming device, play games and navigate through the interface. It also supports 7.1 Channel Digital Surround Sound audio, and Kodi app that lets you organize your media library.
The Amkette EvoTV2 competes with the likes of Cubetek H.265V Smart TV with similar features and is priced at Rs 5,700, and Sunvell MXIII media streaming device priced at Rs 5,999.
There’s also Apple TV fourth generation streaming media player, but it costs Rs 15,387. It gives you an access to stream music and media online and from your Apple device. On the lower side, if you just want a plain media streaming device, there is Google’s Chromecast Dongle for Rs 2,545 , the new Chromecast for Rs 3,399 and Tewee 2.0 for Rs 2,399.
