Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday proposed just one ID card in place of Aadhaar, passport, voter card, driving licence and bank account for every citizen. He asserted that this multipurpose card has huge potential to solve many issues in the country. He also said that the government will soon roll out a digital application which will be used for population census in 2021.

While talking about the population census that is conducted every 10 years across the country, Amit Shah said, "Population census is not a boring exercise. It is an exercise that helps to provide people the benefits of government schemes. National Population Register (NPR) will help the government solve many issues in the country."

Bye bye, Aadhaar? Govt mulls over bringing in an all-in-one card | India News

What a Joke!! UIDAI can't keep even Aadhar data secure and now they are planning to make even more data available in hands of wrong people.
Agree....
On the other side
People after certain age limit (means I think after 45 years but not sure of age limit) has to renew the DL for every 5 years...Then all hickups in the card..How can they manage it...

It's really unnecessary. They can use Aadhaar for multipurpose use. They can make all documents to compulsory link with Aadhaar. But another new? Wasting money.
