Airtel has launched mobile services for its customers in Kargil district in Jammu & Kashmir that would offer seamless voice and data connectivity. Airtel has also announced that they are the only private operator to offer mobile connectivity in the region. This would let the native customers and tourists in the region keep in touch with their friends and family in other parts on India even during severe winter.

Airtel launched 3G services in Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir back in 2011. BSNL was the first service provider to offer mobile services in the Kargil region, but their services were criticized due to poor network connectivity in the region. They installed 3 new mobile towers last year to improve the connectivity.

Jagbir Singh, Director, Network Services Group, Bharti Airtel said that the team have worked hard to towards this project, and they are pleased with the network deployment. Airtel now offers mobile services in all the 22 districts in Jammu & Kashmir.
