NEW DELHI: India’s top telco Bharti Airtel Wednesday launched fourth-generation
​(4G​)​ services in Gujarat​, with ​an initial roll​ ​out of services in state-capital Ahmedabad​, and data for as low as around Rs25 per GB with any new handset buy.

The high-speed telecom services by Sunil Mittal-driven operator would be available over the spectrum in the 1800 MHz (FD LTE) band, Airtel said in a statement.

Customers will be able to access 4G across a range of smart devices including mobile phones, 4G MiFi and dongles through pre-paid and post-paid plans.

​The ​carrier is also allowing consumers a free upgrade to 4G SIM to use ​the new technology on their existing 3G plans.

With this launch, Airtel 4G is now available in 17 circles out of 22, across India.

The telco has also introduced some affordable tariff​ plans for its post-paid and pre-paid users.

Customers can now enjoy 10 GB 4G data for just Rs 249 with any new 4G handset they purchase, the statement added.

​With Rs 249 recharge, 1 GB data, according to it, would be instantly credited to the customer’s account and additional 9 GB data could be claimed by sending an SMS.

For post-paid consumers, Airtel’s Infinity plans starts from Rs 1,199 that comes together with 4G data offer with unlimited voice calls for STD, local and on roaming.

Arch rival Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio has on September 5 launched services with a welcome offer under which the new incumbent is offering unlimited data and voice for first-three months.
